Self-Ligating Braces

As outlined by the Canadian Association of Orthodontics, a variety of orthodontic “appliances” are available today, ranging from traditional metal braces, self-ligating braces, tooth-colored braces, braces that go behind the teeth, clear aligners and other devices, depending on the patient’s needs and “wants”.

Self-ligating braces differ from traditional braces in that they use clips instead of elastic rings or steel twist ties to hold the archwires in place. This allows more flexibility for the archwire to move freely within the brackets, which makes tooth movement more comfortable. Invisalign Clear Aligners
